Their friendship evolved into a business partnership, filled with synergies, shared goals and ideas – one of which was to begin their own firm together. She is a Dubai-based quilt artist, whose recent venture saw her embarking on a group quilt project by calling upon the UAE’s sewing and quilting community to join her in creating a patchwork quilt revolving around the theme ‘What the UAE Means to Me’. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Cynthia fell in love with architecture via a catastrophe. This project consists of the renovation of approximately 3,290 square feet of office space for a new dermatology clinic. This project consists of approximately 5,000 square feet of renovations for an infusion services floor, which includes chemotherapy and medical oncology care. Through experience, training and creativity AE Design Group provides innovative and unique design solutions. Our comprehensive package of design services includes initial consultation, space planning, interior design, procurement, and implementation. Many years ago, two aspiring architectural engineers, Jon Brooks and Jeff Mullikin, enrolled in the Architectural Engineering program at the University of Colorado, eager to learn more about buildings and the process of transforming them from a vision to a reality. Jon and Jeff went on to learn about structural, civil, and mechanical engineering, architecture, construction management, and the nuances of electrical engineering. However, it wasn’t until they took their first lighting design class, that they fully realized their passion for all things electrical.

This project was complete with six exam rooms, one procedure room, a phototherapy room, waiting room, reception desk, medical assistant stations, offices, clean and dirty utility rooms, charting areas, break room, and new staff and patient toilet rooms. The Inpatient Oncology Pavilion is provided with 20 inpatient rooms, a nursing station, patient and family concierge, conference area, and staff respite suite. Additionally, families wishing to remain with their loved one are provided with overnight accommodations in one of two bedroom suites provided in the renovation. Finally, the renovation includes a comfort and healing lounge that serves as a sanctuary where programs like music and art therapy can occur.

As lighting designers, we help define the architectural environment and provide the often subliminal triggers which enhance how people interact with the space or items within the space. AE Design brought home the award for its lighting controls strategies applied to its work for the Crocs Headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado, a project designed and led by Venture Architecture. The Crocs corporate facility envisioned equipped and flexible spaces, ingress for natural light, and living walls to help bring the outdoors inside — all while enabling the company to work toward net-zero objectives. Our design team seamlessly fuses engineering with architecture and synchronizes lighting, technology, and electrical throughout the space. From elegant and simple, to technical and complex projects, we collaborate closely with architecture firms, owners, developers, contractors, structural and civil engineers as well as mechanical firms, which complement the end-to-end, holistic services we provide. Further establishing AE Design as a leader in the industry, the firm was also awarded five Brilliance Awards at the award ceremony that took place on September 23, 2022.

So, by bringing together designers from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, including the Middle East and Far East, Isola Design Festival hoped to inspire an approach that transcended borders and traditional ways of seeing design. Through a collaborative design process, we create technology design solutions that meet the client's current and future needs. We design technology systems such as wired and wireless data networks, telecommunications cabling, and electronic safety/security systems that integrate with each other and the other complex building systems in a facility. A 3-D printed version of the original Iwan installation (constructed entirely from aluminum sheets) was also showcased along with Routes to Roots in the Milan Galleria Giovanni Bonelli, located in the heart of Isola quarter, next to Porta Garibaldi train station in Milan. Both Routes to Roots and Iwan highlighted an eco-conscious approach to design integrating biomaterials, natural resources, household and industrial waste and seamlessly blend traditional methods with innovation to craft modern design pieces.
